What PRP Is

Platelet-rich plasma, explained plainly

PRP starts and ends with you. Here is the whole idea in four stops — no jargon, nothing donated, nothing synthetic.

  1. Step One

A small sample of your own blood

Your visit begins the way a routine blood draw does. A small sample is taken in-clinic by our medical team — it comes from you, so there is nothing donated and nothing synthetic involved.

  2. Step Two

    The platelets are concentrated

That sample is spun down in the clinic so the platelet-rich part of the plasma separates from the rest. What is left is a small volume of Concentrated PRP.

  3. Step Three

It becomes part of your treatment plan

Your treatment providers use that concentration as part of the plan they built around the joint that has been bothering you. It is an outpatient visit — no operating room, no general anesthesia.

  4. Step Four

You follow up with your medical provider

You check back in with your medical provider, talk through how the area feels day to day, and adjust the plan from there. Individual results vary from patient to patient.

Still have questions? The consultation is the place to ask them — our medical team will walk you through the whole thing and tell you honestly whether PRP is worth considering for you.

A Plan Built Around You

If you're a candidate, your treatment providers map out how many PRP sessions they'd recommend, what each visit looks like, and what it costs. You decide from there.

Back to Your Day

PRP is an outpatient regenerative treatment, so most patients drive themselves home and return to normal activity. No surgery. No drugs. No downtime.

Why Patients Choose PRP

A biologic option, not an operation

Most people who ask us about PRP have already been down the usual road: rest it, ice it, take something for it, wait. When soreness keeps coming back, the next conversation is often about surgery — and for a lot of patients that's a bigger step than they're ready to take, with weeks of recovery they can't spare.

PRP sits in the space between. It's a regenerative treatment built from your own plasma, delivered in an outpatient visit, with no general anesthesia and no operating room. That's why patients weighing knee or hip surgery alternatives so often want to understand it before they commit to anything permanent.

We won't oversell it. PRP isn't right for everyone, results vary from person to person, and our medical team will say so during your consultation if we don't think you're a good candidate. What we can promise is a straight answer.

FAQ

What patients ask us about PRP

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Your blood carries plasma, and within that plasma are platelets. For a PRP treatment, our medical team draws a small sample of your blood in-clinic and concentrates the platelet-rich portion of the plasma, which is then used as part of your treatment that same visit. Because the material comes from your own body, nothing donated or synthetic is involved. PRP is one of several biologic therapies we offer as part of our regenerative treatments.

Patients typically come to us about joint soreness — knees, hips, shoulders — along with back soreness and pain caused by a musculoskeletal condition or injury. Many are people who have been told surgery is the next step and want to understand their non-surgical options first. Our medical team will look at your particular situation during the consultation rather than assuming PRP is the answer.

A PRP appointment is an outpatient visit and generally takes about an hour from check-in to walking back out the door. There's no operating room and no general anesthesia, so most patients drive themselves home and get on with their day. Your treatment providers will give you specific aftercare guidance based on the area treated and your activity level.

Cost depends on the area being treated and how many sessions your plan calls for. We go over exact pricing with you during the consultation so there are no surprises later, and we offer flexible payment options. Most regenerative treatments, PRP included, are not covered by insurance — which is part of why we don't require it. Your initial consultation is free either way.

Yes — PRP is not appropriate for everyone. Active infections, certain blood disorders, some medications, and particular medical histories can all affect whether you're a candidate. Our medical team reviews your history in the free consultation and will tell you honestly if PRP isn't a fit for you. Individual results vary from patient to patient, and we won't promise you an outcome we can't stand behind.

No. PRP and Concentrated PRP sit alongside other natural biologics and orthobiologics in our joint preservation approach, including Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC). Which one comes up in your plan depends on what our medical team finds during your evaluation. The consultation is where that gets sorted out, and it costs you nothing to have the conversation.
